MEETING OF BOARD PROPOSED NEW WHARF AIJR ANO IN(.i Tilß KIX AX('E ( Herald Correspondent.) The September meeting of the Tokoma ru Bay Harbour Hoard was held in the Waiapu County Council's chambers. To Puia .Springs, on Tuesday. Those present were Messrs. .1. Busby, chairman. O. T. Williams, M. Hyland, H. H. Fairlie, H. Williams, and the new member who succeeded -Mr. Y. G. 11. Rickard, resigned, Mr. F. Manuel. The secretary, Captain S. .1. I'luminer, was in attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. D. W. W. Williams. R. G. Sherwoodllah', F. li. .lellYnl,' and 11. Te Rapu.

The Waterside Workers' Federation wrote thanking the board for agreeing to build a waiting-room tor the waterside workers at Tokomaru Bay. A letter was received from the Public Trustee stating that lie was prepared to accept fur credit of the Tokomaru harbour special fund investment account No. V>, annual instalments not exceeding £SOO.

Tlie board was advised by the Harbours' Association, Wellington, that the Arbitration Court had tixed a -1-1-hour week for waterside workers.

!Mr. George Lee, consulting engineer, wrote stating that the necessary plans for the new wharf were forwarded to the Marine Department on August 8, and he enclosed a copy of the letter sent with the plans.—The letter was received. Acknowledging receipt of the result of the poll, Mr. C. J. Atkins, secretary of the local Government Loans Board, wrote pointing out that the Minister of Finance could not lie notified in accordance with section 9 (2) of the Local Government Loaus Board Act, 1926, until the approval of the Public Works Department had been received. —The letter was received. The Public Trustee wrote in connection with the board's application for a loan of £17,000, stating that the application could not be submitted to the Public Trust office investment board for consideration until the plans ,of the proposed works had been approved by the Public Works Department.—The board received the letter. On the motion of Mr. H. Fairlie. seconded by Mr. Hyland, the secretary's action in reducing the amount of the loan required from £IB,OOO to £17,000 was confirmed.

Mr. H. Williams moved that, as from October 1, 19,°,U, the imprest account of Captain Plummer and Mr. W. C. Brydon be increased to filSO. Mr. Farlie seconded the motion, which was carried. Mr. O. T. Williams moved, and Mr. Fairlie seconded, that iron wharf gates be fitted on the reclamation side of the Waima Stream bridge, this work to be done in conjunction with the new wharf. The motion was carried.

RECEIPTS AND CARGO HANDLED The secretary and harbourmaster submitted a report for July and August showing receipts for July* totalling £704 8s 4d, including £278 10*s 5d in shipping charges, £287 6s Id in wharfages, £95 19s in dumping, handling and "storage, and £42 12s'10d in sundries. July payments totalled £489. and a credit balance of £1793 was left at the end of the month. August receipts totalled £486, comprising £B6 10s in shipping charges, £334 9s 9d in wharfage, £26 Is 6d in dumping, handling and storage, and £39 0s lid for sundries. Pavments for the month totalled £548 3s* lOd, leaving C 1731 12s lOd as a credit balance.

Inward freight in July totalled 316 tons, including 25 tons of fertiliser, and outward 712 tons, including! 45 tons of manure. August inward freight totalled 434 tons, including 19 tons of fertilisers, and outward freight weighed only 134 tons. Wool shipped in July for Home totalled 434 bales.
