RESULT TO AUGUST 15 WORKING LOSS OF £4971 A fall of ££4,026 in net, revenue for the four-weekly period ended August lb. compared with'the corresponding period jf last year is shown by the railway working account, an abstract of which .vas gazetted this week. A working loss of £4971 replaces a profit of £l9,G6b last year. The gross revenue for the period was £517,583, which was £55,579 more than iast year and expenses were increased jy £79,705 to £522,554. The operating account for the North Island lines shows a revenue of £275,623, in increase of £31,695, and expenn totalling £250,790, an increase of £40,427. There was a loss of £7167, compared witu a profit of £1565 last year. The receipts of the South Island raftways were £134,459. compared with £168,211, an increase of £16,248, and expenses were £202.261, an increase of £29,553. There was a loss of £17,772 compared with a loss of £4467 last year. The balance of miscellaneous revenue, was £19,968, as against. £21,957 in 1930. The gross revenue was £59.501 and expenses totalled £39,533. For the period from April 1 to August 15 the net revenue was £334,728, coinpared with £232,730 last year. The grot., revenue was £21.751,136, an increase oi £230,062. The expenditure was £2,416,408, an. increase of £247,064.
