ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
CADET DIVISION SOCIAL EVENING , A very enjoyable social evening war, lielcl in 'the Masonic, Hall last Saturday by the members ol the Gisuomc Cadet Ambulance Division. The first part of the programme took the form of a delightful tea, after which a round the table concert was organised. Willi every buy contributing, a very assorted and creditable penurinance was the result. During a break in the items the district officer, Mr. W. E. 15. Froggatt, gave an inspiring talk on the duties ol a cadet. He emphasised the point, that each boy should always honour his mother and lather, and to do all that was ill his power to fetter their lot. "There are thousands of ways (his can be done either at home or at work," added Mi\ Froggatt. "In this pleasureseekinc age a boy should not forget those at home who cannot derive much enjoyment, unless he makes an effort himself to give the necessary pleasure, which will be rewarded threefold. A cadet, too, must, uphold the wonderful traditions of such a line order as that of St. .John and never fall to criticising any of his fellowmembers, for in doing so he would break down the harries of high ideals and friendships so prevalent in ambulance work."
lie concluded by congratulating officers and cadets alike in the wonderful cooperation and respect they held for the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and hoped that they would continue with such a line spirit. Before resuming his scat Mr. Froggatt presented a shield donated by Mr. G. Bloomfield for general efficiency to this year's winner, Corporal A. Miller. In presenting it, ho mentioned thai the donor had been the first, .superintendent of this division and' thanked him on the behalf of the cadets for taking further interest in the welfare of the cadet branch.
