Wedding Bells

Crawford—Hughes The Methodist Church, M'aiiigapapa, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Thursday, September 10." when Jessie.. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Hughes, 33 Valley road, Mangapapa, was married to John McMile, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Crawford, Stout, street, Gisborne. The church bad been prettily decorated by friends of the bride with bowls of spring flowers and blossom. The Rev. F. E. Leadley, a friend of the bride's family, performed the ceremony, and Mrs. Lenteil, a friend of the bride, presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church escorted hy' her father, looked charming in a gown of white crepe satin cut on slender lines to the knees, where it fell into a. full circular flaire. Tin shoulders and' the bodice were ornamented with smocking, and the waistline, was finished with a sash which came from the side seams, and tied at the back. A beautiful white wedding veil, worn by the bride's mother, was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of freesias, intermingled with other spring (lowers and greenery, and finished with a white satin bow. Her two bridesmaids, Miss Edna Hughes, sister of the bride., and Miss Mary Crawford, chose frocks of blue marocain, fashioned with short puff sleeves and an ankle-length Haired skirt finished at the hem with three picotedged frills. The waist was sashed with

narrow ribbons tied in a bow at the back. They wore headbands of gold braid trimmed with bine and lemon (lowers, and carried sheafs of daffodils. Two little flower girls, Miss Audrey Hutches, cousin of the. bride, and Miss Sheila Graham, cousin of the bridebCioom, were dressed in frocks similar to those of the bridesmaids, and car ried baskets of spring flower's. The duties of best man were earned out by Mr. .lames Crawford, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr. Arthur Hughes, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman.

After the ceremonv a reception was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Mangapapa, where Mr. and Mrs. Hughes and Mr. and Mrs. Crawford received the guests. Mrs. Hughes was wearing a beconi ing frock of maroon marocain, with a so'tt cowl neck and long sleeves. Sho wore a. brown straw hat and' carried a bouquet of primroses, violets and hyacinths. 'Mrs, Crawford chose a smart navy blue ensemble, worn with a navy hat trimmed with white flowers. She ' carried a bouquet of primroses, violets and 'hyacinths.

Mrs. Hughes, sen., was wearing a dress of black silk with a white lace collar, and a black hat. Later in the evening the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon, the bride travelling in a smart frock of brown flat crepe, trimmed with fawn collar and cull's, and worn'with a brown hat, brown shoes and handbag.

Among the bride's relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. W. Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hughes. My. and Mrs. Auld, Mr. and Mrs. Coham, and the bride's brothers, Messrs. Harry. Norman and > Leslie Hughes. Among the bridegroom's relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. .1. Middleton, Mr. and Mrs. M, Graham, Mr. and Mrs. A. Ba.rtio, and the bridegroom's brothers, Messrs. Peter, Mick, George and Hugh Crawford.
