Scantier Than Ever
OWIMMING dresses in .France during the summer were scantier than ever. ' They consisted of just the tiniest of brassieres and brief shorts. This costume is usually accompanied by a tailored skirt and jacket, or an entire sports dress which can be sliplied on to make the wearer presentable at lunch or for cocktails. One of the newest swimming costumes shown in Paris was in satin cire cloth which was both waterproof and fade proof. A very small brassiere. shorts and an. abbreviated skirt were all made from ' bright red material .lotted with white. Needless to say these were not so much for actual swimmers as for those content to sun bathe, with an occasional paddle. Beach pyjamas were definitely out of the picture, and very few beach slacks were to be seen.
