Constable R. A. Moore, Wellington, will arrive during the week-end to join the police force in Gisborne.
Mrs. C. H. Clarke, Hicks Bay, and her sister, Mrs. L. G. Michaels, Hamilton, have returned to their homes after a holiday in Rotorua.
Mr. R. C. Vigis, custodian of the Cook Memorial Home, advised the Cook Hospital Board yesterday that owing to ill health he did not feel capable of carrying on his duties. The board discussed the situation in committee, and. expressing sympathy with Mr. Vigis, granted him extended leave.
The Cook Hospital Board yesterday afternoon adopted the suggestion of its finance committee that Dr. G. L. Galliers, now junior house surgeon, be offered the post of senior house surgeon on Dr. Dovi’s departure from the hospital in January, and that the junior post be offered by advertisement to suitable applicants,
