FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND

OUTLOOK FOR WOOL LONDON SALES CONTINUE HOME TRADE ACTIVE (Else. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 17, noon.) LONDON, Sept. 16.

At the wool sales 11,482 bales were offered, including 3405 from Now Zealand. The number sold was 8922 bales.

There was a very good selection and an active demand, especially from the home trade. Speculators’ lots and greasy merinos were largely withdrawn owing to firm limits.

New Zealand lots sold as follows: vSlipe halfbred lambs, Belfast, top price ißd, average 17^d. The firm, confident- tone at the opening of the sales has pleased brokers. Messrs. Dawson and Sons consider that' the position is fundamentally sound. There was an almost entire lack of speculation. France and Germany were interested in finer grades, but the chief competition came from the home buyers.
