GRADING OF SCHOOLS
REFORM OF N.Z. SYSTEM APPROVAL BY BOARD (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A letter from the Director of Education, Mr. N. T.. Lambourne, to the Wellington Education Board announces a reform in the system of the grading of schools for 1937. The letter states that schools are to be graded on 95 per cent, of the average roll number for the period from September 7 to October 2. 193(5. The average is to 'be computed by dividing the sum of the roll numbers for every day the school is open by the number of such days. If the school is open for only half a day, it is to be counted as a whole day. Members of the board congratulated the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, on changing from the system of basing figures on the average attendance.
