Expenditure on tourist and health resorts last year was £13,683, as against £12,880 for the previous year, the main items of which wore the purchase of a launch for Milford Sound, new outdoor bathhouse at Morore Hot Springs, and additions to the To Anau Hotel and to Kike House,, Wnikarcmoana. An -important work which is being started by the Public Works Department is completion of the TaumuriinniTokaanu road, which will give employment to 20() men. In addition to providing a shorter route between the Main Trunk district and Toknaim, the road will open up some excellent timber country, and will enable large areas of native land to lie subdivided into farms, both along the r,outo and at the Tokannu end.—Parliamentary Reporter.
