FRESH WATER ANGLING

PROVISION IN BILL (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. Provision for acclimatisation societies to contribute towards the cost of fresh-water fisheries research is made in the Fisheries Amendment Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives to-night.

Regualtions may be made under the principal Act providing tor the issue of fishing licenses by acclimatisation societies at prescribed fees. Regulations may also require societies to pay into the consolidated fund portion of the aggregate license fees, and these

moneys are to be applied by the Minister of -Marine in defraying the expenses incurred in research into fresh water fisheries. The bill was read a first time.
