DEFENCE ADJUNCT GERMAN ACTIVITY •FREMANTLE, Aug. 19. Mr. L. J. Hartnett, - the-managing director of . General Motors-Holdens, passed, througli Fremantle .on the Grforil today on the way to Adelaide. He is returning lo Australia after a six months visit to \the factories of General Motors Corporation ; in America, England, and MrLHartnett -said that General Motors had made no decision to manufacture motor carsdn-Australia. , Mr. ‘Hartnett said - that the Nazi regime was convinced that the motor car industry was. one of the main props to ithe defence . programme, and was offering every inducement’to increased production. Firms were -being assisted to put their products on the market at the lowest possible price, and wonderfully easy terms were offered to purchasers. ______
