Production In Britain
THE motor industry ,of Great; Britain ■* is now the. third largest industry of the United Kingdom, and the latest figures show that it is still growing. Despite the fact that a portion of its resources have been diverted to the production of war materials such »vs aero engines and ’planes, and military transport; vehicles, the sales of private motor cars and commercial vehicles show a considerable advance on the record figures achieved during the same period last year. New cars sold amounted to 102,72(1, n gain of 10.7 per cent, while in the commercial field, .‘19,.‘487 vehicles were sold, an increase of 7.0 per cent on the preceding year.
At present, a great expansion is taking place in the use of public passenger vehicles, and in March, 193(3, t'67 now buses and motor coaches were put into service throughout, the country.
It is interesting that most of this expansion .has occurred in the United Kingdom alone, for export figures show a slight drop.
