PROTECTIVE WORKS

(Per Press Association.) OTAKI, this day. Settlers and others interested in the Otaki River protective works have been advised that the Public .Works Department cannot undertake protective work unless £2500 is available. The Government is not prepared to go beyond a £ for £ subsidy, leaving the settlers to provide £12.-)0.
