GRAVE CONCERN FELT WARNING IN CAPITAL » (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Grave concern felt by many' people regarding the'-lack of any adequate provision for defence in New Zealand in' the event of war, and particularly in view of the present critical international situation, resulted in a preliminary meeting of Wellington citizens being held last night to consider the position. The present dangers to New Zealand's safety were emphasised' and a serious view was taken of the failure to make adequate provision for an emergency. With a view to arousing public opinion as to the dangers with which New Zealand and the Empire collectively are faced, it was unanimously resolved to take steps to form a branch of the NewZealand Defence League and to bold ;i larger meeting next week, at which representative citizens will be asked to be present and to launch a general ednentional campaign.
