STRIKE SETTLED
AUCKLAND GAS WORKERS
CONFIDENCE IN CABINET
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day.
The strike of the Auckland Gas Company's workers was settled early this afternoon, the eon.puny conceding all the points in dispute.
Following a meeting bctween_ the parties and the conciliation commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, it was announced that the hourly workers would be paid on a scale giving them the same weekly wage as they were receiving in 1931. The question regarding shifts on Sunday .was left in abeyance, however.
At a meeting the men emphatically declared their intention to stay out until all, the points had been settled. When this decision was communicated to the management all the points were conceded immediately, and the. men resumed at 2 p.m.
hi a statement issued later the executive of the union denied any suggestion of no confidence in the Minister bf Labour, the Hon. 11. T. Armstrong, or the Government. The only motion carried last night was the strike decision. The men, it was stated, have every confidence in the Government.
