WOOL ODDMENT PRICES TTMAIHi SALE (Por Press Association.) TIMAKU, last night. A satisfactory rise in values was apparent at a crutcliings and oddment sale held in Timaru to-day compared wirli the corresponding sale of last rear. A catalogue of IHOO bales was submitted To a representative bench of buyers, who showed their keenness in bidding, the outcome being an increase of approximately 2d per lb. on crutcliings over the corresponding sale last year. Japan was the dominating factor and took all classes of crutcliings and pieces. The lop price for merino fleece was 15*d for 12 bales, while for halfbred crutcliings 103 d was obtained for an extra super bale. A feature of the auction was the good price for coarse merino crutcliings, these making up to lOd, Io be practically on a par with best .halfbred crutcliings. Merino pieces made up to 12ld; merino locks, to (j.'.d; merino crutcliings to lOd; halfbred fleece, to 14-kl; halfbred pieces, to l.l.?d; halfbred Jocks, to s ld; halfbred crutcliings, to lOd; crossbred fleece, io 0d; crossbred pieces, to 7sd; crossbred locks, to fid; crossbred crutcliings, good, lo lOd; medium, to Sid; low, to fid. The above prices handsomely rewarded sellers who had held on to their oddments for the winter .sale. AMERICAN DEMAND AUSTRALIAN WOOL BUYER'S OPINION SYDNEY, Aupg. 26. America was bare, and local production could not. supply half the home demand. Mr. Crowe came through New Zealand, and was impressed with the very good prices at the New Zealand opening sales, particularly for crutcliings.
