WHIRLWIND LAST ROUND
MANAWATU BOXING McMAHON BEATS CYRIL PLUTO (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. Jack McMahon (Palmerstoh North) was given the decision over Cyril Pluto at the end of 15 rounds of boxing last night. The West Australian champion outboxed McMahon for eight rounds, but the latter was gaining confidence as the. bout progressed and had the better of the concluding stages and a whirlwind attack in the last round in which he nailed Pluto with several very solid rights to the jaw swung the decision his way. The crowd was tremendously pleased, but a section thought that Pluto should, at the worst, have got a draw.
