Air. PI. McChesney, an inspector of schools at Auckland, has been appointed assistant, senior inspector of the Auckland Education Board.

Mr. D. M. Hay, of the A.M.P. Society’s Wellington staff, arrived in Gisborne yesterday. He will relieve the local manager, Air. A. E. Carrington, during the latter’s annual leave.

Air. C. de R. Andrews, who has been in charge of the Dunedin branch of the Valuation Department for the past nine years, was tendered a farewell by the staff upon his retirement on the completion of 45 years ill the public service.

Miss E. Rogers, advance manager for La Mori, the noted ,Spanish dancer, who opens a season in Gisborne next month, is at present visiting Gisborne making preliminary arrangements for the tour.

In the House of Representatives yesterday, Air. R. Coulter (Lab., Waikato) was granted two days’ leave of absence on account of urgent public business, and Mr. Tan Henare (Nat., N. Maori) seven days and Air. T. D. Burnett (Nat., Tenmka) three days, both on account of illness.
