POWER BOARD MANAGEMENT

(To the Editor of the Herald.) Sir,—The Power Board is losing its secret ary-manager and rumour lias it that- the engineer may also be leaving. Is there not a chance here for the hoard to economise by combining the posts of engineer-manager and the accountant could”do the office work! Running a power hoard is essentially a technician’s job. but the tendency of recent years has been to put accountants in charge of most organisations, a balanced budget (so-called) being considered more essential than delivering _ the goods. There are no great extensions going on, and the office is mostly routine now so the matter should he discussed before tlie engineer gets another appointment. —Yours, etc., D.C. [The chairman of the Poverty Bay Electric Power Board, Mr. F. R. Ball, when asked to comment upon the above '.otter, intimated that all the circumstances had been considered by his board before a decision had been reached 1° advertise the managerial vacancy.—Fd. Herald.]
