LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

ANNUAL MEETING PROGRESS CONTINUED At the annual meeting of the League of Mothers held in Messrs. Pettie's lounge on Tuesday, Mrs. G. S. Vincent, in the absence of the president, Mrs. I. J. Quigley, presided over a large attendance. Mrs. D. McKeague supplied the thought for the day, “When there is a twinkle in the eye the heart is right-.’" The annual report and balance sheet were read, and in moving their adoption Mrs. McKeague made congratulatory references to the year’s work and said how gratifying it was to note how the league was progressing. The following officers and members of the committee were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs. E. A. Muis; vice-presidents, Mesdames Tattersfield, Kemp, McKeague and Quigley; secretary, Mrs. A. Lewis; treasurer, Mrs. F. R. Hill; committee, Mesdames Scott, Ritchie, Phillips, Turnbull, Burgess, Anderson and Humphreys; Scotch correspondent, Mrs. Meredith : delegate to National Council of Women, Mrs. Muis; tea secretary, Mrs. Jolly. Mrs. McKeague offered to supply the floral decorations.

On behalf of the past-president-, Mrs. I. J. Quigley, Mrs. McKeague moved a vote of thanks to all retiring officebearers.

Mrs. W. E. Goffe spoke in eulogistic terms of the splendid work performed by Mrs. Quigley, who, through illhealth, was not seeking re-election, and asked that members’ appreciation of her valuable work should be placed on record. In seconding the motion, Mrs. Tatt-ersfield heartily endorsed the previous speaker’s remarks, while Airs-. F. R. Hill proposed that a letter of appreciation for services rendered should be sent to Ah's. Quigley. The motion was carried by acclamation. On behalf of Mrs. Quigley, Airs. Goffe, read the remits from the National Council of Women. A free discussion followed and it was agreed to endorse the remits.

Thanks were expressed to Airs. Hale for presiding at the election. A dainty afternoon tea followed, the hostesses being Alesdames Jolly, AleKeague, Bannister, Turnbull, and Kay.
