ROOSEVELT'S CHANCES
“BETTING!, 7 TO 5. ON” SYDNEY, Aug. 11. Mr. Lanrance Mayer, vice-president of the Julius- Kays or Company, New York, who arrived in Sydney by the Mariposa yesterday, said that Jloosevolt was a “seven to live on shot” for the Presidency. A few months ago the betting had been five to one against any other contender. Since tho entry of London into the field, the bolting had become closer, but it was generally felt that Koosovelt would bo rolurneil. ‘Conditions everywhere are boiler,” said Mw Mayor. “Put everything is waiting on Ihe political situation. Big business is strongly against lioosovclt, but the man jn the, street, whose lot he has improved, is all for him.”
