SHIPPING AT STANDSTILL

NAPIER DISPUTE NO LABOUR OFFERING (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, last night. No agreement has been reached in the Napier waterside workers' dispute and .shipping activities remain at a standstill. The Federal liner Kent is at anchor in the roadstead waiting to load frozen meat and general cargo for London and the West Coast, of England. Her departure on Monday for London direct is likely to be postponed. It is understood that negotiations are in progress between representatives of the employers and the Waterside Workers' Federation with a view Co arriving at some settlement, but no definite advice has been received as to whether anything has been accomplished. Tho workers are demanding to be paid for three hours' time last Tuesday. Two calls for labour were made yesterday morning, but as the waterside workers had received no statement from their employers, the calls remained unanswered. The cessation of work on the waterfront affects the breakwater as much an it does the vessel at anchor in the roadstead.
