REFEREES ON STRIKE
LOSS OF PRIVILEGE
TARANAKI DISPUTE

(Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. Resenting the action of the Taranaki Rugby Union in deciding that no complimentary tickets would l>c issued for re presentativc matches, mcnibers of the North Taranaki Rugby Referees Association to-night decided that their services would not be available for any further matches until the privilege was restored. A circular conveying the Rugby Union's decision was received to-day and a meeting of referees was summoned immediately. The, cancellation of complimentary tickets included even those formerly given to members of the management committee and was made with a view to strengthening the union's funds. The referees stated that the union was depriving them of their only privilege, despite their gratuitous service through the season.
The South Taranaki Referees' Association also considered I lie matter to-night and decided it would disband if the union did not reconsider its decision. The president of the union, the Hon. dames .Mcl.eod. said to-night that tingames would undoubtedly he played in spite of the referees' decisions. 'I he union or the clubs themselves would arrange for referees.
