TAKITIMU W.I.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING*
The June meeting of the Takitimu Women's Institute was held in the Selvyn Hall yesterday, and, despite the wet weather, there was a good attendance of members and visitors, who were welcomed by Mrs. W. Pitt.
After the institute song and the reading of the aspirations, much business was done. Mrs. Keiha was appointed delegate to the forthcoming conference to be held in Dunedin. Reports were given on donations that had been sent to the cripple children's fund and to the 'health stamp campaign.
Mrs. Mawson gave a demonstration of wool-rug making that was followed with close interest.
The monthly competition, wire toasters, was keenly contested, the results being: —Mrs.' D. Blair, 1; Mrs. Glanville, 2; Mrs Campbell, li. As this was a whole day programme, two other competitions resulted in Mrs. McDonald and Mrs. W. Pitt being the winners.
Good business was done on the "bring and buy" stall, everything being sold. During the afternoon Mrs. 0. Smith and Misses Smith and Collier gave items that were much enjoyed.
