"The report of the Government olli cers who made a recent tour of the South Island -Main Trunk on the uncompleted route lias been before the Cabinet,' stated the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon M. J. Savage, to the Herald's corres pondent. "There are one or two points to b< settled within the next week or so and there will then be a statement made regarding public works construction. "The Government ia bound to build the line." added Mr. Savage, "and it is only a question of when. It is a mattei of shaping our financial course, taking things in their turn. We will go as rapidly as possible, consistent, of course, witli proper financial methods and propel organisation of our activities."
