RODEO CUP CONTEST

Three teams will compete for the Rodeo Gup contest lo be held on the. showgrounds on the Kings Birthday. Those competing will be Ruatona, who are the holders, and I'overfy bay and Hawke's Bay. Ruatona has held lh cup since it was first competed' for tun years ago. and successfully withstood challenges at last year's King's Uirlliday rodeo and also twice on the. The question of selecting the Poverty Bay team to. compete in. the Rodeo Gup contest was discussed at a. meeting oi the rodeo committee of the Poverty Bay A and P. Association on Saturday allernoon, and it was decided: to defer the matter until after nominations were received i'from Messrs. C. Gaukrodger, A. Graham, and. F. Bruce. Buckjumping will be a feature of next week's rodeo. Last year several exhibitions were given on one horse, but arrangements arc being made to have several mounts capable of testing the riding ability of the best of horsemen. and as some of the Gisborne cowboys claim equality with the best of those in the "wild west" a. number of sensational buckjumping stunts should be A buckjumping competition has been arranged, the maximum points being ICO, 50 for bucking and 50 for riding.
