DEFENCES OF FRANCE PROGRESS REVIEWED BREST, May 30. M. Pictri, -Minister for Marine, speaking at the opening of the newnaval school, emphasised that France, in the last 12 years, had rebuilt her navy to suit her requirements. She had created big submarine stations at Toulon and Bizerta, had completed plans for a complementary Algerian naval base, modern!;* armed tii!' French Moroccan coast defences, and had also given attention to her war stocks, especially oil'fuel. This jwas housed in subterranean wells | which are unique throughout the world.
