LOCARNO AGREEMENTS
POWERS’ RESPONSIBILITY SUPPORT FOR THE LEAGUE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, May 25. Referring' in a Parliamentary answer to the terms of the collective note addressed to the German Government at Locarno in 1925, in which the signatories stated that, the obligations resulting from Article XVI of the League Covenant must be understood to mean that each member of the League was bound to co-operate loyally and effectively in support of the covenant and in resistance to any act of aggression to an extent whicn was compatible with its military situation, and took its geographical position into account, the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, stated that His Majesty’s Government would abide by that interpretation.
