Because of the obstruction caused by the way bicycles in Christchurch are left on tho roadways and footpaths, the Christchurch City Council decided at its last meeting to embark on a plan of erecting cycle rests in various parts ot the city.
Charged with the theft of 44 pairs of socks to tho value of £2 2s, the property of the Cash Stores, Ernest Thomas Hollo, way, aged 37, appeared before Mr. E. L, Walton. S.M., in the Police Court today. On tlm application of Senior-Ser-geant W. Pender, the accused was remanded to appear on Friday, further inquiries to be made in the meantime.
