AFTER 200 YEARS
UNION TO DISSOLVE The national Society of Wooleombers, with headquarters at Bradford, and tt membership of IdOO, litis decided by ballot vote to amalgamate with the National Union of Oermral and Municipal Workers. This decision moans the dissolution of one of" tho oldest trade unions in the country, with a history of two centuries. It was reported ia 1711 that “The woob'ombers have for a number of years erected themselves into a sort of corporation.’' Their early “laws’’ included: — Thiit no man slmll comb wool tinder 2s a dozen; Thai no master shall employ a comber that is not of the club; If ji member is out of work, the club to give him money and a. ticket to seek work, at the next town; By which menus a member can travel the Kingdom, be caressed' tit each club, ami not spend n farthing of his own, not strike one stroke of work.
