The death occurred at her home in Christchurch oil Saturday oI: Miss Miriam Davis, an aunt of Mr. Ernest Davis, Mavor of Auckland, and the Hon. Eliot' It. Davis, M.L.C., of Auckland. -Miss Davis was a daughter of Mr. Ilyain Davis, a prominent early settler in Nelson and a leading wine and spirit merchant. She was born in Nelson and was educated at Christchurch, where she had lived ever since. Miss Davis was, in a most unostentatious way, an extremely kind and charitable woman. She was a sister of Mr. -Moss Davis, a benefactor of Auckland, who died in England in 19113, and of two prominent Christ church business men, Mr. M. Davis and Mr. .1. Davis, who also died in recent years. She is survived bv a brother. Mr. L. Davis, and two sisters, Mrst IT. .1. Raphael and .Miss T. Davis, ol Christchurch.
