Todd, ini tilt prescnce of a. small attendance. Messrs. \V. A. O’Callaghan and F. W. Johnston were ro-eleeted, Air. O’Callaghan polling 57.834 votes and Mr. Johnston 57.719. Mr. .James Mclntosh polled 40,492 voles and Mr. W. M. King 40.397. Air. O’Callaglian and Johnston. AirTodd congratulated them on what lie called their victory. It had been a hard tight, and tilings had been said which, in cooler moments, might not- have been said. After the tight came peace, and it, was to be hoped that the peace would he conductive to the best- interests of the company.
\fler congratulating Mr. O’Cnllagban and Mr. Johnston on their election, Mr. Mclntosh intimated that the committee set. up by the preference shareholders last week was going to continue in; being. Whether the committee would require to have some different standing by way of representation bad not yet been decided, but. if that were thought necessary. appropriate steps would be taken so that the committee would have an official standing in any negotiations with the company. So far as he was aware, he said, whatever action had 'been taken had nol'been done without recognising the valuable work the company had done for the motoring public and no desire had ever been evinced that the action should be destructive of the success of the company. Ho would' lie very sorry indeed to see the company suffer as a result, of whatever action might have been taken.
