POVERTY BAY UNION WEEKLY MEETING EXTEA .MINOR GRADES Till' weekly meeting of I lie management committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held hist evening. Mr. G. 11. It was also decided to try to get a team from the combined primary schools. Entries will close next Monday evening. The chairman reported that the lights for floodlighting the Oval would he ready to-morrow evening. Mr. French moved that a, custodian of the lights be appointed. The motion was seconded by Mr. Caulton and carried. The nights for clnh training will be drawn at next Monday’s meeting. Following a report- from Mr. Mercer regarding representative jerseys and socks, it was. decided that 15 jerseys and 15 pairs of socks should be purchased.

NO FINANCE FOR- TOUR. The question of the marking out of the dead-ball lino on No. 2 ground on the Oval was brought up by the referees' delegate, Mr. Tasker. The caretaker is to he told to mark out a line 4ft. from the fence. The secretary of the New Zealand Rugby Union wrote stating that lie regretted that the Poverty Bay union’s request for financial assistance for the purpose of organising a school tournament could not he. met. It was also found impossible to agree for a subsidy to be granted for visits- to sub-unions. The letter was received, the chairman regretting that no assistance would be forthcoming. WAIROA GAMES GREASY PLAYING GROUNDS (Herald Correspondent.) The playing, grounds were vei v greasy in Wiiiroa on Saturday owing to the rain, and in consequence the Rugby loot ball was below its usual standard.
