REFUSAL TO ANSWER
STAND BY TOWNSEND INVESTIGATORS DEFIED WASHINGTON, May 23. The defiance of the investigating committee by Dr. Townsend, originator of the Townsend plan,-continued yesterday with his issuance of orders to all officials of his organisation to boycott the hearing. Ignoring the threats to cite him for contempt, Dr. Townsend himself left the city, with the. parting words to his followers: "We will go to gaol before answering a question." The committee finally adjourned without taking any action. '
