PROGRESS OF WORK RAILWA Y (lONSTRUCTION Although the contractors, -Messrs. Butler and C::i mi. have had to contend with much had weather during I lie last few inn:,ills, they have made very reasonable progress with the construction of! tho Whakatane Paper Mills line of: railway from Awakcri. The lines have been laid on three and n-half miles of trad? but one mile of this is not rninplctcly ballasted. Three hriclges have been constructed and the fourth and final one should In- finished this month. The contractors are putting in :i drag line to lift shingle from the Whakatane River tit Howat 's property and it is hoped that the whole line will be completed within six weeks. 'lt is also expected thai the Fletcher Construction Company will commence operations on the mill in June.
