STRANDED TREASURE SHIP
SALVAGE WOEK DELAYED -WEATHER BECOMES WORSE PASSENGERS SENT ON (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Rood. April 16, 10.30 a.m.) GIBRALTAR, April 15. Tugs to-day were unable to approaeJi the P. and 0. vessel, Ranpura, which, carrying! to China the Chinese art exhibition treasures worth £10,000,000, was caught in a violent gale in the outer harbour and grounded on the Spanish coast yesterday. The weather has become worse, and it is very doubtful whether salvage will be possible to-day, but the vessel is firm and is not endangered by the delay. The company sent a wireless message to the Banabool, which passed Gibraltar yesterday on the way to Australia, to return to take on the Eanpura's urgent passengers for Marseilles. The Barrabool left to-day for Marseilles, after embarking the passengers from the Ranpura. Another salvage steamer has been summoned from Altneira. It is considered most unlikely that it will be found necessary to transfer the treasures from the Ranpura, which still is not believed to be in danger. The treasures are contained in 90 steel cases.
