DESSE INVADED
ROME JUBILANT NEXT STEP ADDIS ABABA ROUTE BELIEVED CLEAR FIERCE OGADEN FIGHTING DEFENDERS HOLDING OUT (Elee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. April 16. 11 a.m.) LONDON, April 15. Issued at Rome, a communique from the Italian Commander-in-Chief in East, Africa, General Badoglio, reports that a flying column of the First. Army Corps has entered Desse and the main body is following. Italy is jubilant at the capture of Desse and the peoplo are saying, "Desso to-day. Addis Ababa to-morrow." It is expected that. General Badoglio will seek to enter Addis Ababa on Tuesday next for the festival of the foundation of Rome. Aircraft report that the road to Addis Ababa is open and deserted. There appear to be no troops guarding the capital. The whereabouts of the Emperor, Tlailo Selassie, is unknown. Advance columns of Askaris in armoured cars raced eacli other to enter Desse. A report, from Diredawa says that fierce fighting is occurring in the Ogaden province where the Abyssinians claim that they are holding their own despite intense air bombing.
