HOCKEY
DEFENCE CLUB REFORMED THE ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Defence Hockey Club was held last week, Mr. E. Fitx.niaurice presiding over a good attendance ol players and intending players. This was the first meeting of members of this club for two years, and pleasure was expressed at the attempt to resuscitate the team, which had been one of the leaders in the Gisborne competitions for several years, and also the holders of the championship for a period. The election of officers resulted : Patron. Mr. Reg Scholium; president, Mr. L. Stichbury; vice-presidents, Messrs. R J. Kerridge, L. Cooper, T. Atkinson. J. Henderson. W. Bailey and I. D Bramwel!; delegate to the Poverty Bay Hockey Association, Mr. V. Butler: executive and selection committee. Messrs. 1. Nicol, captain, C. Scholium. vice-captain, and H. Le Bas: secretary and treasurer. Mr. E. Fitzmourice.
It was agreed to have the same, colours as formerly, black and white hoops, and the practice weekly at 6 a.m. on Thurs davs.
Prospects for the season were considered bright, but it was pointed out that a few vacancies remained to be filled, and the secretary would welcome any new player getting in touch with him.
