CITY FOOTBALL CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD (Herald Corrnspondent.) At the annual meeting of the City Football Club, held last night in the Reynolds Hall, it was the considered opinion of those present that there were not sufficient players available to enable the club to field a senior team this season. With a balance of £4, (lie club's position was quite sound, and it was thought that there was every chance of the club fielding a junior team. To enable members to canvass for junior players the. meeting was adjourned, the secretary to call them together again at a date just prior to the sub-union meeting. Several members commented on the continued- delay in the holding of the sub-union meeting, for which, although the East Coast Rugby Union met almost a week ago, no date is yet forthcoming. A further opinion was expressed that this delay is retarding the progress of football on the Coast. and the meeting urged other club delegates to endeavour to have the subunion meeting called in the very near future. *

The Tolaga Bay School has inaugurated a cross-country race, which it is intended to make an annual event. The race is open to pupils from Std. 5 upwards and other pupils 12 years of age and over. The course chosen is over a distance of approximately 2i miles, and the initial race was held recently, the results of which are as follow: fan Shaw, handicap '2min. 45sec, time 16min. 16sec, 1; J. Marsh, 2min. 45sec, 16min. 17sec, 2; B. Lawrence, 2min. 15sec, .16rnin. 52sec, 3. Fastest time was registered by P. Moore, scr., who covered the course in 13min. 45sec. Second fastest time was made by Cranswick, 14min. 40sec, with T. Smith third fastest, 14min. 53sec. In connection with this race an endeavour is being made to procure a cup, and already two donations have been promised. Preparations for the observance of Anzac Day are now complete. All returned soldiers, wearing decorations, have been requested to parade in the main street of Tolaga Bay at 1 p.m. The service, at which the Gisbome Salvation Army Band will be in attendance, will be held at the Memorial Gates at 1.15 p.m. Immediately followbig the service the Tolaga Bay Returned Soldiers' Association will hold its annual meeting in the Reynolds Hall.
