LIFE EXTENDED
S.A. PARLIAMENT ATTTTUDE OF LABOUR ADELAIDE, April.,4. The Sturt electorate committee of ihe A.L.P. has called upon Labour members of The State Parliament to resign their seals immediately as a protest against the "Government's action in extending its Parliamentary term without having consulted the people by a referendum. If the proposal to extend the life of Parliament to five years brought forward by the Butler Government had not succeeded the State would bo due for a general election this month. In support of its demand the Sturt. committee states the members were elected for three years, and as they were opposed to a live-year term they should now voluntarily reeontest their seats to prove their sincerity.
When a .«imilnr move was made at the__ last State conference of the A.L.P. it was defeated on the ground that the expense of the necessary byelections would not be justified.
