FIRE DESTROYS TRUCK
LOAD IV('R\ T * PIETICEL-Y .A motor-truck belonging I'o Ml'. J. Windley, of Whakntane, was destroyed by fire recently. The truck, which was loaded willi fence battens, was stopped on the railway load near lleid's culvert, Ed'gceuinhe, and while beiiipj cranked. backfired and burst into (lames. 'Hie fire spread so rapidly that no attempt could be made io save the vehicle or the limber, which burned so fiercely that other traffic was unable to pass along the road for nearly an hour. All traffic was consequently diverted via the Thornton road. The truck was insured,
