PROPERTY SALES
NEWMARKET SECTIONS FIRST FOR SOME VICARS Two sales of property in Broadway, Newmarket, Auckland, have been completed recently and are believed to be the first sales in (lie shopping section ol the street for the last five years. The large three-storeyed concrete miiiiing at present occupied by the shop :iiid office of Marriott's Stores, Limited, has been purchased by Kirkpatrick ami Stevens. Limited, drapers and mercers. The building has a 30ft- frontage to Broadway and goes right hack to Os-iboi-ne street, a depth of 199 ft. The purchasers are at present established a few doors away, and largei premises have been necessitated through expanding business. After certain structural alterations are completed, it is their intention to use the whole build' ing for their business. The freehold of the property, which was previously owned by Oswald M. Smith. Limited (in liquidation), has beer, bought, direct negotiations having! been made by the purchasers, Marriott's Stores. Limited, has leased a neighbouring ''building, in which certain alterations will be made. A sale was recently completed by B. and W. Heliaby, Limited, of portion of the company's Broadway property to .1. R. McKen'zie. Limited. The section sold, which adjoins the Newmarket Hotel, has a frontage of about 25ft. to Broadway, ami runs back to Burke street. It has been occupied by a saddler's and tobacconist's shop, but the latter has now been vacated and is being dismantled.
