GREYHOUND RACING
EIGHT WINS IN 10 STARTS THREE TRACK RECORDS GISBORNE PERFORMANCE The outstanding performance of the Gisborne greyhound racing season has been achieved by Mr. J. E. Lund's Golden Ranch, with eight wins and two thirds in 10 starts, and with three track records. This dog, which is only 17 months old, started racing last December, and easily won the maiden event in 27 l-ssec. He was recognised then as one of the best dogs ever seen on the Gisborne track, and his subsequent performances bore out this impression. By the end of January Golden Ranch' had broken the track record, doing the distance in 27sec, while a week later in a special match race he completed the shorter course in 25 3-ssec., creating a record for that course. The third record which he holds was created on March 19, when from syds. behind he was clocked in 27see. over the 448yds. course. His performances wore very consistent, and on April 2 ir, a special match race against Web come News he equalled his • former track record of 27sec.
Golden Ranch was bred in Eltham by Mr. I. Stanner, and is of aristocratic breeding, by King Paph from imported Red Ruche.
