HOME BUILT IN DAY
FIRE .VICTIMS AIDED MELBOURNE, April 4. Expressing practical sympathy with Mr. and Mrs. Edward Murray, whose two children were burnt to death when their home at Hamilton was demolished by fire, more than 200 townspeople assembled at daybreak to-day to build them a new home. • Leading builders organised the effort which was so successful that.by jaightfall (he new house had received its first coat of paint, the garden had beeii laid out and planted and even the clothes line erected ready for Monday's wash. While bricklayers, plumbers, electricians, 'fitters, furnishers, gardeners and painters worked in .relays 200 women provided them with .food.' Even local solicitors were on the ground with the deeds of the home prepared free of all cost. Mrs. Murray is in hospital recovering from burns, but her husband, who was away when the fire occurred', has completed arrangements for her reception in the new home as soon as she is well enough to return.
