BACKSTROKE SWIM
MATHIESON'S SPEED UNOFFICIAL RECORD TIME (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, last night. In an unofficial attempt on the New Zealand 100 metres backstroke record this evening, P. E. Mathieson covered the distance in 71sec, bettering the record established by G. Low in 1914 bv 2 2-ssec. Mathieson will have an official tilt at the record on Wednesday evening next.
