BUDGET SHOWS SURPLUS
SOUTH AFRICAN MARGIN INCREASES IN REVENUE LOAN REDEMPTION PLAN (F.lec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. March 27, 11.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, March 20. The ."Minister of Finance. Mr. N. C. Ilavenga, announced a Budget surplus of £3,055,000, due to increase of revenue under every heading except that of gold mining taxation, the lower amount from which was the result of a further lowering in the grade of ore mined. The Minister also announced that South Africa would shortly 'be redeeming £18,000,000 of overseas loans by means of local flotations.
