Law!on, seen: tary of the committee, is given by tin committee which in 19Z0 organise,] sub scriptions to promote the musical train ing of the outstanding Gisborne giri pianist. Miss Oriole Faram, now Mrs. Oriole Faram Aitchison. Reviewing the progress of the corn inittco's protegee, the final reporl states: "Miss Faram, now Mrs. Aitchison, lefi New Zealand by the liner Rangitam for London early in March, 1930, in charge of her mother, and started be) studies at the [Royal Academy ol Music in the beginning of May, 1930. In February, 1931, she won the firsl prize and silver medal at the Wimbledon competition open to all England. and soon after took first pril7.es at tin. Central London and London South and West competitions, held in Westminster Central Hall. "In October she won 3 scholarship offered by Madame Paekmann, but as itmeant leaving London to stud/ in Paris, it was decided to forgo it. She received a free scholarship -iu trie Royal Academy for two years from September 1, 1932, which was later extcndel foi another year. In September, 1933, she gained her performer's L.R.A.M. certificate and in April, 1934, her teacher's A.R.C.M. certificate. • "In May, 1935, she was married in London to Mr. J. Aitchison, cf Canada, and after finishing her term at the college left in August, 1935, to join her husband in Canada, where he had secured an appointment on the staff of the Brandon College. She is now giving recitals in various Canadian towns and receiving great praise from musical critics for her high standard of performance. The final accounts have been audited and may be inspected by interested subscribers at Mr. F. IT. Lawton's office, MeKee's Buildings."
