MINISTER FAREWELLED
WAIROA GATHERING PRESENTATION TO MR. MACK AY (Herald Correspondent.) A farewell was tendered at. St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Sunday aehool building, Wairoa, to the Rev. C. .1. Maekay and Mrs. Maekay, who have since 'eft for Inglewood, their new sphere of duty. Among those present were Mr. Haigh, missioner at Pntorino. The first part of the evening. was devoted to music and games, Messrs. Huston and Butcher being capable organisers. • - The Rev. It. Waugh, of Havelock Nortn, moderator oi me charge, outlined the position oi Mr. Macicuy and jus appointment to Wairoa as a relieving minister lor a short, period. llis outstanding abilities had been hilly recognised and he was listed lor suppi,. at inglewood. He closed' with a high tribute to .Mr. Maekay s service ami abilities.
■ Mr. V. E. Winter, as a senior member of the session, in a few weil chosen words expressed regret at .the departure of Mr. Maekay, and on behalf of the local Presbyterians and friends, presented lain with a cheque. The Mayor, Mr. H. L. Marker, -Mi'. W. Tail, and Mrs Adam Smith also spoke, the lastnientioned tendering to Airs. Maekay a small present from the women's organisations.
Mr. Maekay made a feeling reply, ami indicated that when if became tune to retire he hoped it would he to settle in Wairoa.
Supper was handed round. "Auld Lang Syne" and "God be with you till we meet again." were sung, and the gathering dispersed.
