ANNUAL WORK DISPLAY OUTSTANDING FLOW 1-KS (Herald Correspondent.) The Matakaoa Women's Institute held its annual display of work iu the ie Araroa Hall on Thursday. The display of flowers was outstanding. As the president. .Mrs. M. W. Halliwell, was unable to attend, her duties were capably carried out by Mrs. 0. -M. Williamson and Mrs. X. P, Branson, vice-president, The task ot secretary was undertaken by Mr. X. P. Branson and Mrs. A. Martin. A delicious afternoon tea. was' served under the direction of Mcsdames W. Ryan, A. Tyrrell and T. Walford, assisted by -Misses Wendy Metcalfe and Cecily Gudgeon.

Special prizes were donated by the following: Mrs. Halliwell, for white bread, won by Mrs. E. Pearce; -Mrs. Rudland, for decorative bowl of flowers, won by Mrs. Percy Taylor; Mrs. X. I--Hughe's, for novelty iced cake, won nj Mrs. X. P. Branson ; Mrs. N. P. Brailson, for outstanding piece ol sewing, won bv Mrs. S. Bass; Mrs. J. I. IBush, for woodwork, won by George Sexton; Mrs. M. 0. Gudgeon, for pastel work, won bv Herbert. Hughes, Win to Ratamii, Ben Stainton. Ruby Pearce, Kiriana Stainton and Richard Bush; Miss Boxhall. for pastel work.

Mot.eii.lfc, son., Sydney, assisted by her son, Air. \V. F. Metcalle. Mr. Metcalfe said that the work was of a very high standard and it was gratifying to note that entries had been received from all the sochols in the district and also from the correspondence school pupils.
