The announcement that he was intro , during legislation, in an effort to secure some rationalisation •. in manufacturing industries in New Zealand was made by the Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, to the annual meeting of the W ellington Chamber ■of Commerce last night. He reviewed at length the economic position of the Dominion and reiterated previous statements, that one of his especial aims was to foster secondary industries. Most progress, however, lie added, had to come from within the industries themselves', and 'all the Government should and could do was to assist in ah ways possible and provide the necessary machinery measuies.
He was introducing legislation during the forthcoming session to secure a measure of rationalisation, but the Government did not intend to use any big stick.” »
